Chippendale Furniture Style (1750–1790)
Thomas Chippendale, was a London cabinet-maker, designing furniture in the mid-Georgian, English Rococo and Neoclassical styles. Chippendale became famous with the publication in 1754 of his book "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director", presenting designs representing the British furniture tastes of the time. Chippendale's name has become synonymous with those designs and are now reproduced globally.
Most designs were in late baroque-rococo manner, adaptations of Louis XV and Georgian shapes with bit of Chinese and Gothic detail.
